The VBOX is a powerful instrument used for measuring the speed and position of a moving vehicle. It
is based on a new generation of high performance, fast update rate GPS receivers, and will measure
Acceleration, Braking distances, Slip angle, Lap times, Cornering forces and much more. Due to the
small size and simple installation procedure, the VBOX is ideally suited for use in cars, bikes, off-road
vehicles trucks, earth-moving equipment and boats. The VBOX can be combined with many different
input and output modules, making it a very powerful data acquisition system.
The VBOX 3i 100Hz has a very powerful processor ensuring low latency with updates of speed, position and acceleration, 100 times a second. In addition, there are four high resolution analogue inputs and 32 channels of external CAN.
A variety of Racelogic input modules are compatible with this product. The VBOX 3i has Bluetooth, USB and Serial connectivity and all data is logged to a compact flash card. A supplied microphone allows simultaneous voice tagging alongside the GPS data. By connecting the VBOX 3i to the Racelogic Inertial Measurement Unit, a real time Kalman Filter will correct the GPS in areas of poor GPS reception, and will output Pitch, Roll and Yaw values at 100Hz. The VBOX3i can be used in conjunction with a Base Station to get 40cm as standard, or 2cm with the RTK option

16-bit Analog Interface - RLVBADC03
The RLVBADC03 is an 8-channel analog voltage input module designed for use with the Racelogic VBOX. Each channel is electrically isolated and provides bipolar voltage measurement up to 50v with a DC accuracy of 400V. Isolated, regulated 5v and 12v supplies are available on the main 25-way D-sub connector in addition to a supply voltage connection. Configuration software aupplied with the ADC03 allows scale and offset of the voltage reading for conversion into real data.
The RLVBTC8 8 Channel thermocouple interface module allows up to 8 K-type thermocouple channels to be logged by the Racelogic VBOX. The TC8 is linked via CAN bus to the VBOX and can be used in conjunction with other units such as the ADC03 analogue interface or the CAN02 vehicle CAN bus interface.
The vehicle CAN bus interface allows acquisition of data from in-vehicle CAN network by VBOX. 16 User defined CAN signals may be captured from vehicle bus, scaled, and then passed to the VBOX for logging to RAM or Compact Flash memory. Supports 125Kbit, 250Kbit, 500Kbit, and 1Mbit CAN data rates.
The RLVBFIM03 is a 4-channel frequency capture module designed to allow logging of frequency information by a VBOX. The four signal inputs will accept a wide rance of voltage levels including direct connection to vehicle ABS sensors. A CAN bus interface connects this unit to a VBOX for logging. Data capture is configurable as wheel RPM, wheel speed or pulse frequency, making the FIM02 suitable for measurement of other frequency signals such as fuel flow meters or engine RPM signals. The FIM03 is housed in a rugged waterproof enclosure allowing location anywhere on the vehicle, including under the hood.
The VBOX mini input module is a general purpose input/output module designed for use by either the VBOX Mini or existing VBOX products. The MIM01 offers eight analog voltage inputs, three digital inputs and two thermocouple inputs. When used with a VBOX Mini, the MIM01 also offers a speed output via analog voltage or digital pulse.
The RLVBYAW03 is an advanced vehicle yaw rate sensor with integral accelerometers. The accelerometers are mounted in the X and Y plane for measurement of lateral and longitudinal acceleration.
The YAW03 is constructed wit a splash-proof casing, which is rated to a limited ingress IP rating of IP66, making it ideal for use on boats or in harsh environments.
The RLVBIMU 02 is an advanced inertial measurement sensor containing three accelerometers and three yaw rate sensors which, when combined with the VBOX data logging system, can provide information such as vehicle pitch, roll and yaw.
The IMU is now constructed with a splash-proof casing, which is rated to a limited ingress IP rating of IP66, making it ideal for use on boats or in harsh environments.
The RLVBBT01 VBOX Bluetooth Module is a general purpose Bluetooth adapter, designed as an alternative to using a hard-wired serial connection between the VBOX and either a Q1 display (recommended) or Laptop PC equipped with a bluetooth interface. The RLVBBT01 module allows the user to place the VBOX in a safe, dry and convenient location, facilitating the free use of the Q1 display, either by hand or mounted, without any cabling restrictions.
The RLVBBT01 offers high-speed serial communications at 115K baud rate, ensuring full data capture and transfer. The RLVBBT01 has minimal power consumption, resulting in insignificant drain on the VBOX power source particularly useful when using a VBOX battery pack.
The RLVBTELEM4E / RLVBRTM4E modules from Racelogic are radio modems for use with the VBOX range of products. Each module contains a high power radio modem capable of transmitting and receiving RS232 serial data. Two radio telemetry modules may be used for example, to transmit VBOX serial data from a remote unit to a laptop PC at a maximum rate of up to 20Hz. Modules can also be used to receive differential correction information (DGPS) from a Racelogic Base Station for local position correction.
The Differential Base Station is a complete differential correction system designed to provide local correction for improved GPS accuracy. By programming the base station with a known GPS position, it is able to accurately monitor the difference between its programmed position and the position that it is receiving via GPS. This difference is transmitted via radio to allow a remote GPS system to correct position.
The RLVBDAC01 has four analog outputs and four digital outputs. PC software allows the user to define CAN bus data to be converted into analog voltage or digital form. The output voltage resolution is 12 bit.
The RLVBACS026 is a rechargeable battery powered thermal printer for use with the Racelogic Multifunction display. Printing functions include automatic printing of acceleration, deceleration, brake testing, and lap timing results. The printer is supplied complete with Ni-Cd battery pack and charger.
The CAN Speed Interface is a quick and convenient way of getting a digital RPM and road speed signal from a vehicle. The unit connects to the CAN bus, and translates the CAN bus messages into two digital outputs proportional to engine RPM and road speed.
DriftBox DriftBox is for official competition judging, and communicates in real time to the judges via a radio telemetry system. This system is based on two GPS systems, with antennas placed in line on the roof of the car. Drift Angle is the difference between the Direction of travel and the Direction the vehicle is pointing.
PerformanceBox PerformanceBox is a version of DriftBox, which was launched in early 2006 to wide acclaim. Subsequent to this success it was decided that a version of DriftBox which does not include the yaw rate sensor, and which therefore cannot measure drift angle, would be a worthy addition to the Racelogic product range.
